Parking Permits

All student permits expire 7/31/2024. Permit sales begin August 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Department of Public Safety Traffic Control Office will issue parking permits for a fee of $150.00 to authorized individuals.

All undergraduate student permits will be picked up from either the Rec Center during check-in OR the main entrance of the University from the office of Parking and Transportation. You must have your ID and vehicle registration with you.

All Graduate, Law, and Employee permits will be sent directly to your local address. DO NOT USE 1 OLD FERRY RD or 10 METACOM AVE.

A Parking Permit will be obtained upon completion of a web-based parking permit application. Undergraduate students will be limited to one active permit. Parking permits must be renewed on a yearly basis.

Resident freshman students are not authorized to have or operate vehicles on campus at any time. All first-year students are considered freshman regardless of academic standing.

Applicants For Permits

Persons applying for a parking permit must have a valid driver's license. The vehicle for which a permit application is submitted must have a valid registration, liability insurance, and a current safety inspection sticker, as required by the state in which the vehicle is registered.

A university official may request verification/inspection of these documents at any time. A valid photo ID and vehicle registration must be provided in order to pick up a permit. Permits are unique to each vehicle and are therefore non-transferable.

Beginning August 1 you can purchase your permit. Permits will be available for pick up from the main entrance (Undergraduate students ONLY all others will be shipped directly to you) usually the next business day. Print off your receipt and place it on your dash until you are able to obtain your permit.

At the beginning of the academic year, permits for undergraduate students only will be available at the Rec Center during check-in. See the procedure below.

Permit Required

All cars parked on the Roger Williams University campus (including off-campus housing at Almeida) that are owned or operated by employees or students of the University must be properly registered, insured, and have a parking permit affixed permanently to the outside lower left corner of the windshield (driver’s side).

All cars without valid parking permits or permits not properly displayed may be cited and fined at least $100.00 and/or towed at owner/operator expense.
