Math Test Registration

IMPORTANT NOTE:  There are two parts to the math placement test. They are the RWU Algebra Placement Test and the RWU Functions Placement Test. You will notice a total of four tests two 2 HR tests and two 4 HR test. If you received extended time on your SAT's or had an IEP in high school you would take the 4 HR tests. If you did not have extended time on your SAT's or have an IEP in high school you would take the 2 HR tests. No one should ever take all four tests. They are exactly the same aside from the time limit. 

To view images/pictures on the math placement tests you will need the updated version of java.

 To take the RWU Math Placement tests, please follow the directions below.

  1. Go to the login screen. Click on "Create an account."
  2.  On the registration screen:
    • (a) Enter first and last name in the appropriate boxes.
    • (c) Enter your email address. This should be an email account that you monitor regularly and does not need to be your RWU email address.
    • Enter you RWU student ID number. 
    • (e) Select your own password, using at least five characters. Do not use spaces or punctuation.
    • (f) Retype your password on the “Confirm” line.
    • (g) Click on “Submit.”
    • NOTE: Please write down your login and password. If you need two sessions to complete your testing, you will need to use the same log in and password to log into the second session.
  3. You are back in the login screen. Your information has been filled in automatically. Click on “Log in”
  4. Click the enroll in a class box.
  5. Check the box for RWU Placement Tests click on Register and Confirm.
  6. Click the RWU Placement Link and the tests will populate.
  7. You are now ready to take your online math placement tests.
    Select RWU Algebra Placement Test.
    At the end of your algebra test, click on “Submit Assignment” to submit your algebra test.
    • If you have answered all of the questions, you will receive a message of a Math 117, College Algebra placement or a message instructing you to continue to the Functions Placement. 
    • If you have already placed into Math 117, College Algebra you do not need to complete the Functions portion.
    • If you have left some of the questions blank, you will be given another chance to review those questions before final submission. If you do not wish to return to these questions, click on “Submit” again and the test will be submitted.
      Your placement results will automatically be sent to RWU. 
  8. If you are taking the second test immediately after completing the algebra test, please select RWU Functions Placement Test.
    At the end of your functions test, click on “Submit Assignment” to submit your functions test.
    • If you have answered all of the questions, you will receive a message saying that your test has been submitted or that you have placed into Math 117, College Algebra.
    • If you have left some of the questions blank, you will be given another chance to review those questions before final submission. If you do not wish to return to these questions, click on “Submit” again, and the test will be submitted.
      Your placement results will automatically be sent to RWU. 
  9. If you are taking the functions test in a second session, return to the login screen and re-enter your login and password (refer to information from step #2 above).
    Select RWU Functions Placement Test.
    Please do not create a second login and password for the second test.
    At the end of your functions test, click on “Submit Assignment” to submit your functions test.
    • If you have answered all of the questions, you will receive a message saying that your test has been submitted or that you have placed into Math 117, College Algebra.
    • If you have left some of the questions blank, you will be given another chance to review those questions before final submission. If you do not wish to return to these questions, click on “Submit” again, and the test will be submitted. 
    • Your placement results will automatically be sent to RWU.
