Student Programs, Leadership, & Orientation

Student Programs, Leadership, & Orientation works to provide diverse opportunities for students to connect with clubs and organizations across campus.

Make the most of your college experience and GET INVOLVED! Our students create and foster learning environments to gain awareness of self and others, discover leadership as an action, and value the responsibility to contribute positively to the campus and greater community. We want to help you connect your passions to our various groups on campus to make your time at RWU a memorable one!

Our mission is to engage the student body in meaningful and complex co-curricular activities that foster individual and peer development through leadership and experiential opportunities.

Student Signature Experience

Learn about Roger William's University's signature student experiences through our Weeks of Welcome for when you arrive on campus in September. Make sure to utilize our Gameroom, The Hawk's Hangout, for a place to connect with your peers or to unwind before, between or after your classes. If you're looking to further enrich your learning in the classroom, or to gain professional development, look into our Hawk's Leadership academy.

Weeks of Welcome

Our Weeks of Welcome (WOW) program is 30 events in 30 days at the beginning of each fall semester. We encourage students to get involved and attend one of the many opportunities. You can learn more about the WOW events by visiting the Hawk Link webpage or the CORQ app, we hope to see you at these events.

The Hawks' Hangout is a perfect place for students to pass the time between classes. Located in the Campus Recreation Center, the Hawks' Hangout provides students a place to play a quick game between classes. Enjoy air hockey, foosball, Skee-Ball, pinball, board games, Nintendo Switch, or simply watch TV while enjoying a smoothie or coffee from the snack bar.

Any member of the Roger Williams community can utilize the Hawks' Hangout games by providing your RWU student ID to our Hawks' Hangout Handlers.

Hours

Monday-Friday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Saturday-Sunday: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Ready to lead, inspire, and make a difference?  Then apply for your space in the the Hawks Leadership Academy

The leadership program will help you uncover your unique strengths, values, and identity as a leader. Through interactive workshops, we’ll explore the Social Change Model, qualities of effective leadership, social identity, conflict styles, and personality assessments. You’ll learn from peers, develop skills for inclusive change, and gain confidence in your leadership abilities. The program wraps up with a final presentation and a fun team challenge

If you are interested in connecting with various clubs, organizations, or involvement opportunities here at Roger Williams University, meet with one of our Student Involvement Ambassadors! These students help match your interests with what Roger has to offer. You can either schedule a meeting with them or join in one of their office hours for walk in meetings. You can schedule a meeting with them by emailing sia@g.rwu.edu.

The Student Run Design Center provides a graphic design resource to all on-campus clubs and organizations, as well as University departments. Staffed by work-study students, the design center creates and designs posters, flyers, banners, and other tools for advertising and announcing events. Please note that requests do require at least seven business days to complete. Late requests may not be accommodated depending on Design Center workload. Students utilize Mac workstations and the Adobe Creative Suite to make these banners, posters, club logos, and t-shirt designs.
