Art Building Monitor

Job Description

  • Report directly to Department Chair and Visual Arts Building Technician
  • Assist Visual Arts Faculty in maintaining safe, clean and clear studios for Visual Art classes and Student 
  • Work displays
    • Help faculty prepare studios for classes and clean studios after classes
    •  Help hang artwork and prepare for campus exhibitions and end of semester shows
    • Organize supplies and storage of materials
    • Oversee equipment while students work outside of class
    • Learn to operate and aid students in using equipment when necessary
    • Be available to spot students that need assistance with equipment
    • Help with social media and promotion of exhibitions and art on campus
  • Building Monitor Responsibilities include:
    • Clear and wipe down tables
    • Put tools away that are left out in classrooms
    • Sweep/vacuum power tools and wood working room
    • Put easels and tables back in place after classes
    • Organize blue storage bins
    • Organize tool chests and ensure tools are properly stored, cleaned and maintained

Special Skills Needed

  • Dependability, organization skills, interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to attend in-person or online equipment training courses

Academic Major Preferred
Visual Arts Majors, Minors and Core are preferred, but any major is welcome to apply

Contact Beth for interview with Department Chair. Interviews begin in August and continue throughout the year.
