Commuter Ambassadors
Job Description
Working with the Director of Student and Family Assistance and Commuter Life (CommLife) and any other FIT Interns/Work Study Commuter Ambassadors:
- Develop positive relationships with commuter students; may meet with first-year and transfer commuter students throughout the semester through (with supervisor approval)
- Disseminate routine information to commuters on campus resources (for example Counseling Center, Health Services, Career Center, Public Safety, Financial Aid, the Intercultural Center, QTRAC, Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, and the Center for Student Academic Success, etc.), processes, and deadlines
- Work to build connections with and among first year commuters
- Work with Student Life staff to create community building programing for commuter students
- Help to engage commuters using social media outlets; help to maintain commuter Hawk Link page and send out regular emails in collaboration with co-Commuter Ambassadors
- Promote commuter engagement in campus clubs, organizations and events.
- Initiate, plan and organize educational and/or social programs that respond to the needs and interests of commuters as needed, especially through collaboration with the Commuters in Action (CIA) club
- Communicate with supervisor regularly about intentional conversations, programs and events, and the commuter community through meetings as needed
- Attend Commuter in Action Club Meetings as needed
*Students are prohibited from driving during work-study employment with the limited exception of authorized work-study driver positions.
