SNEC Foundation Grant supports Preservation, Architecture team teaching, consultants, field experiences, internships

The Southern New England Educational and Charitable (SNEC) Foundation has awarded the Cummings School of Architecture a grant for Spring, Summer and Fall 2024 to support Preservation and Architecture team teaching, consultants, student field experiences and internships, as well as a summer convening. Courses supported include

Spring 2024 
Arch 517 Collaborative Revitalization Design Studio (required MS in Preservation Practices, elective Master of Architecture, taught by Julia Bernert, Adjunct Faculty, John Tschirch, Adjunct Faculty, Stephen White, Dean. supporting team teaching, field experiences, internships.

PRES 532L Building Materials and Technology Workshop (required MS Preservation Practices, Elective Master of Architecture) taught by Aaron Marcavitch, ’99, Executive Director, Connecticut Landmarks. Supporting consultants, field experiences, internships 

Summer 2024
PRES 579 The Newport Seminar (elective MS Preservation Practices, Master of Architecture) taught by John Tschirch, Adjunct Faculty. Supports field experiences

Fall 2024
PRES 331/531 Historic Construction Materials and Assemblies. Taught by Alyssa Lozupone, Director of Preservation, Newport Restoration Foundation, Ben Haavik, Historic New England Team Leader for Property Care. Supports team teaching, field experiences.

2024 support is a continuation and expansion of support from 2023, supporting the Cummings School’s strong commitment to balance of teaching and practice, collaboration, field experiences, and internship development.
