RWU International Graduation Class of 2021
Earlier in May, the Roger Williams campus was buzzing during graduation week. As the vaccination rate continues to grow in Rhode Island, we were able to host commencement ceremonies for our graduating students. What made this year especially exciting was that the university was able to host ceremonies for students graduating in 2021 as well as a special ceremony for our 2020 graduates! We also started a new tradition with our international students this year with a formal presentation of national sashes, worn as a part of the graduation ceremonies. The international ceremony was held at the Richard L. Bready Mount Hope Bay Sailing and Education Center.
Akane Yamada also received the inaugural International Student Leadership Award. The award was created to recognize a student a graduating student for their dedication and commitment to campus internationalization and international engagement. Miss Yamada, from Chiba Prefecture in Japan, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and plan to return to the Tokyo area for work.
Congratulations to all of our graduates in the class of 2021 as well as those who were able to return from the class of 2020! Students in the photo represent the following countries; Singapore, Greece, Japan, Australia, Vietnam, Netherlands, China, Panama, Canada, Thailand, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, and The Gambia.
