RWU Partners with Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England to Offer Reduced Tuition on University College Courses
All adult volunteers with GSSNE are eligible to receive financial discounts toward their education, from professional certifications to undergraduate and graduate degrees
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Roger Williams University is launching a partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) to support the educational futures of adult volunteers by providing reduced tuition at University College.
Through this new collaboration, all adult members of GSSNE will receive a financial discount on all credit-based courses through UC, which offers a range of educational opportunities from professional certifications to undergraduate and graduate degrees at RWU’s Providence campus, 1 Empire St.
“University College at Roger Williams University develops strong partnerships with community organizations that support educational pathways wherever our community members are in their journeys,” said Gena Bianco, Dean of RWU’s University College. “This exciting program with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England will help thousands of their members pursue their dreams of starting a degree or new career, completing a degree or advancing in their profession, and embracing lifelong learning.”
This opportunity recognizes the valuable contributions of more than 2,700 adult volunteers who serve the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England by supporting their education and development. GSSNE is one of 112 Girl Scouts chapters across the United States, which serves girls and gender-expansive youth from all over Rhode Island and communities in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“This new partnership between Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England and Roger Williams University opens doors to conversations about the role real-life, transferrable skill building can play toward course reduction as real-world credit,” said Dana Borrelli-Murray, CEO of GSSNE. “We are so excited to explore these valued opportunities with our volunteers and appreciate the ways in which RWU continues to show up as a true community partner.”
University College, which is located in the heart of downtown Providence, provides all types of learners with opportunities to start or further their education or careers with more than 30 flexible programs.
