What was your most memorable athletic experience at RWU?
I have two memories that stand out to me. The first is my first game in my freshman year. We were playing at the Providence Civic Center and it was a double-header with Providence College. The place was packed! I was nervous. I didn’t know I was going to start until warm-ups. I ended up bricking my first shot, but followed it up and got the rebound and put it in. After that, the nerves were gone and I ended the game with 19 points. My second memory was against Keene State. In that game I had 24 points and 24 rebounds. It was a great night.
Were you involved in other parts of the campus community?
I was very involved in RWU. I was a Resident Advisor for three and a half years. My senior year, I was a head RA. I was very active in Intramurals. I was the Commissioner for IM football, softball, and basketball. I also took a photography class during my freshman year of college. I took a lot of photos for the student newspaper and yearbook. These other experiences, along with being on the basketball team gave me the chance to meet some great people. I still keep in touch with many of the friends I made on the team and across campus.
What did you learn as a student-athlete at RWU?
Roger Williams changed my life. I was an inner-city kid from the Washington, DC area coming to a small-town environment. I had the opportunity to be an accounting major, play basketball, be an RA, and participate in numerous other clubs and organizations. I had professors who cared and made a difference in my life. RWU opened my eyes and changed me. This place helped me when I became an adult. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
