RWU Men's Swimming & Diving Claim NEISDA Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. – For the second consecutive season, the Roger Williams University Men's Swimming & Diving team won the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship, while the women's team scored a second-place championship victory this weekend.
 
The men's team put on a dominating performance over the course of the four days of competition, besting the field by over 300 points.
 
Eamon McKenney (Portsmouth, R.I.), Hunter Wronski (Shelton, Conn.), Hunter Olson (Framingham, Mass.), and Gabriel Pasqualucci (Southbury, Conn.) took first in the 200-yard medley relay with their time of 1:33.62, setting a new school record.
 
Wronski would also pick up a first place result in the 1650-yard freestyle, beating the field by 15 seconds with his time of 16:15.78 and setting a new school record by ten seconds.
 
McKenney earned the win at the 50-yard backstroke, posting a finish of 23.78 and setting not only a new school record but also a new NEISDA Championship record in the process. He also took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke in 52.03.
 
Pasqualucci took first in the 50-yard butterfly in 23.38 while Josh Seabrook (West Haven, Conn.) logged a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1-meter dive (361.15) and the 3-meter dive (360.50).
 
In the 100-yard individual medley, Olson posted a time of 53.93, then later teamed with Pasqualucci, Paul Marchese (Monroe, Conn.), and Christian Montañez (North Chili, N.Y.) to close out the championships with 3:08.99 win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
 
Highlighting the NEISDA awards were Andrew Gillie (Danvers, Mass.) as the Male Senior Co-High Point Swimmer of the Meet and Pasqualucci as the Male Co-Swimmer of the Meet.

Women's Swimming & Diving Earn Second-Place Victory

The RWU women's team just missed claiming their third straight NEISDA Championship. Roger Williams was bested by Simmons College, who won the championship by less than 40 points.
 
The women's team put up strong finishes in the pool all weekend long. Mackenzie Webber (Meadville, Pa.) earned two wins in the final two days of competition, taking first in the 50-yard backstroke in 27.22 and the 50-yard butterfly in 26.31.
 
Meg Peters (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) finished in second place in the 200-yard butterfly but was still able to set a new school record with her time of 2:11.94. Shantelle Richards (Nashua, N.H.) also had a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:56.48.
 
Hannah Nolte (Elmhurst, Ill.) earned first place in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.78, while Kenzie Sweeney (Groton, Mass.) earned third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.82.
 
Peters, Nolte, Richards, and Webber wrapped up the weekend with second place at the 400-yard freestyle relay, coming in at 3:40.87.

Highlighting the NEISDA awards was Webber as the Female Senior High Point Swimmer of the Meet.
