Technology Projects

RWU has a structured process for submitting technology projects, reviewed by the Technology Projects Steering Committee, ensuring alignment with university goals and priorities.

Roger Williams University has instituted a technology project management process to better serve the needs of the RWU community and more efficiently manage departmental resources.  The technology project submission form provided below is the first step in initiating this process at RWU.

This includes projects such as, but not limited to:

  1. New projects utilizing existing software
  2. New software implementations
  3. New integration requests
  4. Enhancements to existing functionality

Once your request is received, you will be contacted directly for more information.

Technology Projects Submission Process Overview

Completed submissions are reviewed internally by the Technology Projects Steering Committee (TPS) and, once approved, Information Technology staff will be assigned to work with you on designing, developing, and implementing the best solution for your business need.  Projects are considered in the context of university priorities, timing, and capacity.  In some cases, the TPS will recommend an outside vendor best suited to meet your needs

Technology Project Submissions MUST meet the following criteria in order to be considered:

  1. Have an Executive Sponsor from a dean or president's cabinet member
  2. Directly correlate to objectives and/or initiatives identified within the University's Strategic Action Plan
  3. Be divided into phases, when the project is more than 1 year in total duration
  4. Be measurable for operational impact, where an After Action Review would be completed 6-12 months after "go live"

VPs, deans, directors, and department heads or designees may submit TPS project requests by using the project submission form.  Please submit your request as early as possible and no later than four weeks in advance of the date needed.

Technology Projects Steering Committee

The Technology Projects Steering Committee consists of university leaders and Information Technology staff to provide oversight, guidance, and decisions on the priority and resource allocation of technology projects for the university.  These projects are in direct support of the university's vision and strategic initiatives.  This committee supports the work of the cabinet by ensuring that the institution's technology priorities are set; that project management and performance meets objective(s) in a timely, cost-effective, and high quality, and that policy and resource allocations issues are resolved promptly and definitively.  The TPS meets regularly to review project submissions.
