Sharon was the first person in RWU history to win 12 letters in her career (Volleyball, Basketball and Softball).
What is your most memorable moment as a student-athlete at RWU?
I don’t have one memorable moment but many of them. Long trips to games on the bus with friends, game day, being ranked in the top 20 in the nation for volleyball. The President’s wife use to cut articles from the Providence Journal and the Bristol paper and send them to me. I never had time to read the paper so I always appreciated her thoughtfulness.
Who was your biggest influence while you were on campus?
My coaches and teachers.
What skills did you learn as a student-athlete that you still use to this day?
Multitasking, negotiation skills, teamwork, leadership, and time management. Being a student-athlete sets you on a professional path long before you realize it. There are so many lessons and life skills gained along the way that are applicable to any line of work or profession. I actually feel I had an advantage being a student-athlete when I entered the workforce because of the diverse and rich experiences, not to mention life-long friendships.
How do you give back to RWU?
Donate, meet with students who are interested in going to the school through the alumni office, take students for internships, and serve overall as a positive ambassador for the school and athletics.
