James Greenslit enters his fourth season as Head Coach of the Roger Williams University Men’s Soccer program for the 2018-19 academic year. So far this year, the men’s soccer team is off to one of the most successful in history.
What are your goals for the team this year?
This year our goals are to:
- Win the USC team academic award for the 7th straight year (cumulative GPA + 3.0)
- Win double digit games this Season
- Play in November for the 1st time since I’ve been at RWU
- Complete +250 Hours of Community Service
What makes you excited to come to work each day?
Roger Williams University is an incredible place with so much to offer. If you can’t get excited crossing over the Mt. Hope Bridge each morning, I don’t know what more you could want. The people here at RWU are fantastic; we have a great team attitude within our community and are supportive of one another. Our men’s soccer program has been rebuilding for three years and I believe we are in a great place to make a big step forward as a program.
How has donor support helped you and your program?
Donor support has allowed us to bring our entire Men’s Soccer staff on the foreign trip to England. Donors have also allowed us to make the transition to the new school colors much more manageable and we will look much more professional.
What can alums do to help your program in addition to financial support?
We will be starting the Men’s Soccer Alumni Mentoring Night this Spring. It will allow 8-10 alumni to return to RWU to talk to our current team about their transition from RWU to the working world. It will allow our team and the alumni to make connections within different fields of work and to enlighten our players on how to prepare for life after RWU.
