Education

Jennie Diercksen earned her master’s degree in Literacy Education at Bank Street School of Education. She is a former elementary teacher and holds licenses in Elementary and Special Education birth to grade 6. She has taught in various classroom settings in New York City and Providence Public Schools. She has served as a Literacy Lead and specializes in Inquiry-Based Instruction. Within her role as a teacher, she worked as a school-based clinical educator and is experienced in coaching and supporting teacher candidates and new educators as they establish their careers in the classroom.

Throughout her career, Jennie has been passionate about mentoring teacher candidates entering the field of education. Her first-hand understanding of the joys and challenges of working in today’s classrooms has prepared her to guide RWU students through the processes of training, certification, and beyond! Jennie works directly with candidates and community schools and programs to establish strong partnerships that support the learning of both RWU students and the children in Rhode Island and Massachusetts classrooms.
