Graduate Computing/Practice course taught from Boston, LA, Providence by leading Alumni
An exciting experiment was launched in Fall 2023 that continues through Spring 2024, in the interest of gathering the best talent to teach the graduate level Arch 586 Computer Applications for Professional Practice with focuses on both emerging digital media applications as well as evolving practice models. This has led to the development of online delivery of the course, collaboratively developed and delivered by a group of alumni who are leaders and emerging leaders in the field.
The Fall 2023 offering to 30+ students was led by a group consisting of Chris Winkler ’13 BS/M.Arch, Associate, Sasaki Boston; Joe D’Oria ’12 BS/M.Arch, BIM Manager for Morphosis in Los Angeles, Chris Mulvey ’98, Managing Principal at Safdie Architects Boston, and Linda Penaloza-Resch ’20 at Vision 3 Architects Providence. Winkler, D’Oria and Penaloza-Resch ended up being most involved in the delivery of the course, while Mulvey provided input in course design, participation in some class sessions as well organizing participation from multiple members of the Safdie Boston office.
The Spring 2024 offering features Winkler and D’Oria for 18 students. Penaloza-Resch also teaches in the RWU Summer Academy in Architecture.
