Honors Program Application For New/Transfer Students

This Honors Application is for new students only. If you are a current Roger Williams University student interested in applying to the Honors program please use the Current Students form.

Personal Information

The Roger Williams University Honors Program offers a unique academic and social community for qualifying students.  Prospective Honors students must complete the following essay prompts in addition to the Common Application.

Applicants should keep in mind that these essays significantly influence admissions decisions to the Honors Program.  Students with excellent grades and test scores who submit mediocre essays may be denied admission to Honors.  Alternatively, strong essays can significantly bolster an otherwise borderline application.

Please describe how your high school experience has prepared you for the RWU Honors Program. In your essay, you are encouraged to discuss how your academic, community engagement and involvement, and/or leadership experiences have made you the person you are today and why you’re a fit for the Honors Program.

You may want to include specifics such as:

  • Significant high school honors and/or AP coursework
  • Participation in service learning opportunities
  • Leadership roles in student government, clubs, athletics and/or organizations

As a University, we are proud to be named after Roger Williams, a man ahead of his time for his belief in equality, freedom of religion and separation of church and state. Over the course of his lifetime, he earned many monikers including: rebel, mentor, scholar, visionary and more. Choosing from the monikers on our Pay Attention to Roger page, what moniker best describes you and why?

The deadline for Early Action appellation for Honors is December 15th, with decisions provided by approximately mid-January.  After December 15th, we will continue to accept Honors applications on a rolling basis.
