Advising and Peer Mentorship

Within the Center for Student Academic Success at RWU, we take a comprehensive and holistic approach to academic advising. Through our team of professional advisors and a cohort of Peer Mentors, all RWU students have access to tailored support in meeting their academic and personal goals.

Our trained and experienced staff of professional advisors serve RWU by:

  • Directing students to campus resources and information to help them transition to college and meet personalized goals
  • Meeting regularly with students to help keep them on track in their academic progress
  • Providing guidance on choosing the right major for ALL students with an emphasis on undecided students and students who are questioning their major
  • Engaging in professional development to stay up-to-date on best advising practices
  • Collaborating with offices across campus to ensure complete support for all students
  • Assisting students with the following procedures:
    • Academic appeals
    • SAP appeals
    • Change of major, minor, or core concentration
    • Change of student status (withdrawal/transfer)
    • Student reinstatement

Our team of student Peer Mentors contributes to the RWU experience by:

  • Supporting incoming students throughout their first year at Roger Williams
  • Hosting workshops for the purpose of social and academic success
  • Representing the wide array of academic programs offered on campus

Here are some additional ways CSAS supports RWU students academically:

  • Providing GPA calculations to help students determine how to meet GPA goals. This is particularly helpful to students who need to maintain a particular GPA for a scholarship!
  • Consulting on study strategies, time-management, organization and other academic tips
  • Informing students about helpful resources, University policies, and opportunities to help most of your college experience
