Year 1 Responsibility/Function

  1. Fabricate mechanical and electrical components for robotics project.
  2. Monitor robot during live experimentation.
  3. Use MS Excel to compile usage statistics.

Year 2 Responsibility/Function

  1. Design and fabricate electrical and mechanical components for robotics project.
  2. Monitor robot during live experimentation.
  3. Use Solidworks to design mechanical components and analyze motion.

Year 3 Responsibility/Function

  1. Use SolidWorks and MaserCAM to fabricate custom parts using computer integrated manufacturing.
  2. Create software for robotic control.
  3. Develop graphics and contribute to publications in robotics area.

Please describe how this role will support the student’s academic progress/experience:

This role is particularly valuable to the engineering major or the Robotics minor as a direct implementation of the academic content of the program. Skills gained in courses early in the academic program are put to immediate application towards the development of new robotic technology.
