The Office of Alumni Relations & the Intercultural Center are pleased to host this discussion on diversity and inclusive excellence at Roger Williams University. Alumni are invited to join us as we share new initiatives and opportunities for student engagement and activism on campus. Food, a lively discussion, and information on upcoming programming opportunities will be provided.

There are many changes that students experience when they begin college.   This program, especially designed for parents of first year students, explores the various psychological, social and intellectual challenges that take place during the first semester of college.  Presented by the Center for Counseling and Student Development.

Decription: Do you remember family small groups during orientation, where you had the chance to ask faculty, staff and students anything and everything about Roger William University? Here’s round 2! We understand a lot has changed from high school graduation to Columbus Day weekend- they come home with a stack of laundry and you ask "aren’t there laundry machines on campus?" They come home starving for a home cooked meal and you ask "Don’t they feed my student on campus?" And you still don’t know the difference between hawk dollars and uni-card points…this is the session for you! Bring your questions, comments and concerns and we’ll be happy to answer them!  Presented by the Orientation Staff

Join the RWU Cross Country team in the 2nd Annual Homecoming 5K Race!.  This on-campus race is open to all parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff.  Register for the race by October 10th.

Meet the Dean of University Libraries, Peter Deekle,  as he draws  upon the institution’s archival histories concerning the founding of the university and the life and work of its namesake, Roger Williams.  A short video will highlight images from the university’s past.  A small gift will also be given to all attending.

Kayaks will be open from 12-5 both days, depending on the weather and is on a first come first serve basis. It is recommended that parties participating in waterfront activities wear clothing and shoes that can get wet; each should bring a rain jacket. Also, it is recommended that participants bring a towel and change of clothes.

After lunch, stroll through the center of campus for activities including pumpkin painting/carving, live performances and other activities for students, alumni and their families. There will be candy apples and other tasty treats to snack on. Live music performances and dance performance will be seen on stage throughout the event.

Help the Inter-Class Council shave their way to conquering childhood Cancer! On October 20th, RWU volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, and family and friends give generously - worldwide. The St. Baldrick's Foundation uses the donations to fund more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States Government. Last year, RWU raised $19,500. Come and watch this heartwarming event; hair cutting services sponsored by Hair, Heart, and Soul in Bristol.  You can visit http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/RWU to register or donate.

Saturday Night Live alum, Finesse Mitchell, a versatile actor and comedian, plays China Ann McClain’s cop father on the hit Disney show, "A.N.T Farm", now in its third season. Mitchell also currently appears on SHOWTIME on the latest Shaq All-Star Comedy Jam special. His book, "Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much: A Brother’s Take on Dating and Mating for Sistas" (2007) is an advice book for women. It was born out of his hip, hilarious and widely popular monthly advice column for ESSENCE Magazine.

Mitchell also had memorable performance on NBC's Today show, TBS "Who Gets The Last Laugh", Fox dating show "The Choice", VH-1’s hit show "Single Ladies" as "Jobari", B.E.T’s "Comic View", "Tyra", Ricki Lake, Jeff Probst, "Comedy Central Presents", Tyler Perry’s "Meet The Browns", and feature films, "Who’s your Caddy", "The Comebacks", and "Mad Money".

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Finesse graduated from the University of Miami and is a distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is also a former student-athlete who was a walk-on for the National Champion Hurricanes football team and played with such UM alumni as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Super bowl champion, Warren Sapp.
