“I looked at a lot of other schools for construction management, but I am a water person and I loved this campus. It didn’t hurt that RWU has one of the best construction management programs in the country.”
As a student, Kenny was everywhere on campus. He was an RA, worked in the Feinstein Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement, was a member of the LEED group on campus, was an Apple rep and also worked for a local company in Bristol called Wicked Good—which allowed him to travel to farmers markets around the state on weekends!
Kenny even took on a collaboration with an architecture student at the R.I. Veteran’s Home in Bristol, where the pair worked to convert an empty room into an activity center. The home couldn’t afford to hire an architect to design the whole thing, so when Kenny saw it on the board at the Feinstein Center, he made a call and the rest is history. “The veterans had the most incredible stories! This wouldn’t be possible without having relationships on campus.”
Today, Kenny is interning with Walt Disney World in Orland, Fla. as an Imagineer. He's getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the magic really happens at Disney, while putting his education to good use as a member of the hotel division, working on the next top-secret Disney hotel.
His advice for RWU students?
“Get involved. Break out of what you’re used to and try new things. You may realize you’re good at things you’ve never even tried before—that could be your biggest talent! Especially around here—there are so many opportunities for learning about different cultures and places.”
