Roger Williams University utilizes the Common Application (www.commonapp.org/) as well as a brief supplemental application for admission. In addition, several programs have special requirements for admission.

Here's the rundown on what we'll need from you:

  • Your completed application
  • $50 (U.S.) nonrefundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript(s) - including your first quarter senior grades
  • Standardized Test Scores (optional, with exceptions): standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are optional for all students applying for admission with the exception of applicants to the programs of Elementary and Secondary Education. Additional details can be found on the Test Optional Policy page, on the website.
  • AP exam score(s) - if applicable
  • Official College Transcript(s) - if applicable
  • One (1) letter of recommendation is required - please be sure to include applicants full name and complete mailing address on the recommendation.
  • Application essay (on any topic of your choice - 250-500 words)
  • Program Requirements
    (Architecture, Performing Arts, Secondary Education, Elementary Education Graphic Design Communication, Creative Writing & Visual Arts)
  • Extracurricular activity sheet (optional/not required)
  • Students applying for financial aid must file the FAFSA by February 1 & Complete the CSS Profile by January 1st.

First Year and International Application Deadlines

  • Early Action I Deadline: extended November 7; decision most likely received by December 15
  • Early Action II Deadline: extended to November 19; decision most likely received by January 15
  • Regular Admission Deadline: February 1; decision most likely received by March 15

Transfer Dates

Fall Semester Applicants

  • Application: Suggested deadline April 1; if applying after deadline, please contact Office of Transfer or International Admission.
  • Deposit: The tuition deposit of $200 is required by May 1 and is non-refundable after that date. We cannot guarantee enrollment to students whose deposits are received after May 1.

Spring Semester Applicants

  • Application: Suggested deadline is November 1; if applying after deadline, please contact the Office of Transfer or International Admission.
  • Deposit: The tuition deposit of $200 is required by December 1 and is non-refundable after that date. We cannot guarantee enrollment to students whose deposits are received after December 1.
