Juveniles Who Act Out Sexually: A Comprehensive Overview shall provide sworn public safety professionals with an overall understanding of the needs of juveniles who act out sexually and the impact on the victim and families, as well as the information that’s needed for successful prosecution by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attendees will first learn to understand the contributing developmental factors, recognize the effect of abuse and trauma, understand neurobiology and risk factors for youth who sexually offend as well as methods of dealing with lapses and regression. Secondly, attendees will learn the role and needs of the attorney general’s office in juvenile sexual abuse cases. Lastly, attendees will learn how sexual abuse impacts children and their families and ways first responders can provide support to assist these families with the current situation. Training participants will leave with knowledge regarding how sexual abuse impacts the child victim as well as practical ways to interact with survivors.
