The School of Engineering, Computing and Construction Management (SECCM) delivers a practical, hands-on approach to learning that enables graduates to adapt to rapid technological change, communicate and interact effectively with diverse populations and unite education with experience to form a uniquely individual vision.
Did you know that RWU's SWE affiliate is active in community service as well as in the engineering community? Our students routinely volunteer on campus and beyond to encourage young women to pursue careers in the sciences. Each year, they also have the opportunity to travel to national conferences where they present research, make connections and network to find internships.
Construction management students were the first to pilot our new externship program through the Career Center. The Externship Program connects our students to career professionals out in the field, giving them the opportunity to shadow a professional and engage in meetings, presentations, brainstorming sessions, site visits and any other activity that may demonstrate an actual work day.
Our students compete and win in regional and national competitions. From the FAA and Seismic Building Design competitions to the Steel Bridge, WERC and EPA P3 competitive design and research projects. In the last several years, RWU teams have placed first in the FAA competition, received the Intel Award at WERC two years in a row, placed first through third at the Foresight Engineering Design Contest and has won Design Build at ASC Nationals and swept all three categories (Heavy Highway, Commercial Build, Design Build) at the Regional Championship.
