Susan Hammond
Director

Susan is the Director of the University Advising Center. She has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has worked as a counselor, advisor, and faculty member throughout her 35 year career in higher education.

Karen Johnson
Senior Academic Advisor

Karen is the Senior Academic Advisor in the University Advising Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in Humanities with a concentration in Holistic Counseling from Salve Regina University, and a graduate certificate in Expressive Arts from Salve Regina. She is also certified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator in the UAC. Karen has been advising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels for more than fourteen years.

Marilyn B. Shaw
Administrative Assistant

Marilyn has lived in Rhode Island most of her life. She has worked at Roger Williams University for the past 4 years. She started as the Secretary to the University Registrar, and recently accepted an offer from the UAC to be our Administrative Assistant. Marilyn attended Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Providence, Rhode Island. Marilyn is excited about working in the advising program, particularly with freshmen who are exploring their choices of major and career.
