Class Year:

“I chose Roger Williams University for a few reasons. First, for the location, I mean…it’s beyond beautiful. My brother was a student here when I came and we’re great friends. Finally, RWU has one of the best business schools around.”

While Rachel said she didn’t think she wanted to play basketball in college, when she got to campus, it was unavoidable. “My friend Alex roped me in! She encouraged me to go to try-outs, and I made the team as a walk-on. I found my best friends through basketball.”

When she’s not hustling on the court or in the classroom, Rachel is a member of Delta Sigma Pi—the business honor society—and intramural volleyball and softball. “It’s a lot of fun, but you definitely want to win—it’s all about the shirt!”

Words of advice for incoming students:

“Don’t skip classes. Your teachers will know you. They’ll know your first name. If you’re not going to class, you’re not going to get the grade. Balance your time and your priorities. School is first.”

“Don’t limit yourself to one group of friends. Join different things—the clubs on campus are fun and they are how you’ll meet new people. I was terrified of the basketball girls because I walked on. I didn’t know how they would treat me, but you just have to be confident. The people here are all so nice.”
