Brendan is from nearby Plymouth, Mass., but came to RWU by way of Kenya, Africa. The sophomore Criminal Justice major got involved with the global organization, Flying Kites, through his sister when he was just 16, and never looked back. Brendan traveled to the developing nation during the summer before his freshman year to volunteer with the organization, which helps Kenyan children orphaned by the African AIDS epidemic. His experiences in Kenya have left Brendan hungry for more. Last year, he founded the RWU chapter of My Turn (the college affiliate of Flying Kites) to garner support for the organization on campus. After several successful fundraisers, the club is thriving, and Brendan is already planning his next trip to make a difference in the lives of children half a world away.
