The President's Council on Inclusive Excellence announces a call for applications for Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grants that will fund projects undertaken during the 2013-14 academic year. Applications are due by Friday, May 3, 2013.
As part of its strategy to engage the entire University community in promoting Inclusive Excellence, the Council launched this Mini-Grant Initiative in Spring 2010 to support projects and programming that promote institutional change on diversity matters. The Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grant Initiative is intended to provide seed monies to create positive changes that highlight the benefits of diversity and create a more inclusive and vibrant intellectual community to live, learn and work. Projects or programs funded through this initiative will inculcate principles and practices of inclusion and diversity across the University.
For the current application cycle, up to $20,000 in grants will be awarded in June 2013 with funding available starting July 1, 2013. Typical grants will range from $500 to $5,000. Projects should be completed during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters. Funds must be expended by the close of the 2014 fiscal year on June 30, 2014, and a final report for the project submitted by September 1, 2014.

Inclusive Excellence and the President's Council on Inclusive Excellence
Inclusive Excellence is a University initiative to address diversity across campus and build a diversity program that touches every aspect of the University – from academics, student programming, hiring and training, to bias response, purchasing and community outreach. The President's Council on Inclusive Excellence convened in 2008 following a campus-wide dialogue initiated to help guide strategic directions relating to diversity and inclusion at RWU.

The Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grants are awarded through a competitive grant application process and not all projects will be funded. The President's Council on Inclusive Excellence places a high priority on initiatives and programs that help improve and/or assess our campus community on diversity measures. The selection committee invites grant proposals that accomplish one or more of the following:
Mini-Grant proposals must include (1) a completed cover sheet, and (2) a program narrative. The program narrative must provide an overview of the proposed program or initiative including details on the goals, participants, timeline and proposed budget. In addition, please include details on how you will evaluate the success of your program – in other words, how you’ll measure whether the program met the stated goals.
Mini-Grant applications may be submitted by any faculty member, staff member, student (including undergraduate, graduate, continuing studies and law) at Roger Williams University. Alumni are also invited to submit applications for projects that will directly affect the immediate Roger Williams campus. RWU community members are encouraged to work collaboratively and submit joint applications.
Projects will be selected by a subset of the President's Council on Inclusive Excellence. Notifications will be made in June 2013. All members of the Council are available for guidance throughout the Mini-Grant application process. Member of the President's Council on Inclusive Excellence include:
