RWU partners with NRF and others on “Keeping History Above Water” Conference addressing heritage, climate change, April 10-13, 2016

The Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF), Salve Regina University, URI Coastal Resources Center, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Union of Concerned Scientists are partnering together on an international, multi-disciplinary conference on saving historic structures and neighborhoods in the face of rising tides. The conference, Keeping History Above Water, will take place in Newport from April 10-13, 2016.

Keeping History Above Water will tackle the problem of protecting the past by examining the threat from theoretical and practical positions, and from both local and global perspectives. Over four days, a slate of the most highly regarding preservation, architecture, engineering, oceanographic and other specialists from across the United States and abroad will share knowledge, examine risk, and debate solutions with an emphasis on real world applications.
