BIG INK coming to RWU this Fall, led by Michael Rich, supported by FPST

September 25th, 2015 by glaramie

RWU is hosting a BIG INK event this Fall, that celebrates the tradition of woodblock printing in an exciting community atmosphere.  Big Ink will support up to 16 student from any discipline and all experience levels to carve and print a large-scale woodblock.  We will be hosting Lyell Castonguay, a noted woodblock artist from Amherst, MA on two occasions who will help Professor of Art Michael Rich direct the event - the first visit on the weekend of October 3 & 4 to give demonstrations, work with students on the carving process, and show his work.  On his second visit at the end of the semester, December 4 & 5, we will ink and print the large prints using the Takach press in VARTS as a group in a fantastic communal day of printing (pizza, coffee and ink - yeah!)  An exhibition of the work will follow – stay tuned for more news through Art on Campus.
