Undergraduate New Student and Family Orientation

Congratulations and Welcome to Roger Williams University!

As you begin the next chapter in your life, we are excited to have you join the Roger Williams University Community! New Student and Family Orientation is an amazing two-day program that provides an educational experience while building a strong bond with the Roger Williams University community. While Orientation is a required part of every new student’s transition, many years of experience have shown us that Orientation is an essential piece of your success as an RWU student. We encourage you to engage with us in this fun and exciting adventure!

As part of the Orientation program, students will have an opportunity to meet with an academic advisor and register for your semester courses. In addition, it is our goal for you to get acquainted with campus: learning traditions, policies, and academic requirements as well as being introduced to campus life and all of the resources that Roger Williams University has to offer. New Student and Family Orientation at RWU ensures that you will get connected and are excited to get started in your first semester as an RWU student!

The Orientation Programs are designed to help students:

  • Create educational goals by engaging with faculty to understand major academic requirements and the core curriculum.
  • Utilize key campus resources that are available to support overall wellness of mind, body, and spirit.
  • Communicate personal and academic needs effectively to faculty and support staff that assist with the transition to college life.
  • Identify opportunities for leadership development, and in-class and out-of-class involvement in various campus activities.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with other new students, faculty, and staff.
  • Know the values, culture, social norms, and responsibilities as a member of the Roger Williams University community.
