The Legal Studies program at Roger Williams University is designed for students who have an interest in the law and legal systems. The academic focus of this program is on the development of critical thought, analytic reasoning and scholarly writing. Our program includes courses on criminal law, constitutional law, judicial process and ethics, and electives in conflict resolution and mediation, sports law, social justice and trial advocacy.
Our Legal Studies program faculty members are also attorneys who regularly provide career and pre-law advising services to their students. Students in the Legal Studies major are encouraged to participate in law-related clubs and organizations such as RWU Mock Trial and Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, and to engage in service learning opportunities like our legal advocacy clinic which provides assistance to clients in need of legal services in Newport, R.I.
