The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is one of the six academic schools at Roger Williams University, each has a specific mission, and all are united in a shared commitment to “Affordable Excellence.” The University is uniformly dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience for all of its students.
As the cost of education continues to rise and transformative change reshapes higher education, the School of Continuing Studies is helping to lead the way to ensure students have access to affordable, high quality education. The School of Continuing Studies was a pioneer in Prior Learning Assessments, and remains a leader today, accepting up to 90 credits towards a Bachelor degree. We also partner with industry and community based organization to offer programs that train the next generation of leaders. The SCS’s also offers flexible formats to meet the needs of our local and distance learning students. We always stay ahead of the curve to ensure that we are providing the best educational options and delivery modes. Every step we take in this new and ever-shifting educational landscape is done with the intention of keeping us focused on being relevant, connected, and engaged in meeting the needs of today’s adult students.
Both our degree and non-credit programs at SCS are designed to prepare our students for careers and industries that exist today and to also instill students with the deep knowledge and skills they will need to help them be competitive when new jobs and industries emerge. We do this by creating critical thinkers who understand cultural and ecological context, have an open mindset, professional ethos, and by providing an education that delivers a transformative learning experience to each of our students.
We are proud of our graduates and of their accomplishments. The education they received at Roger Williams University has changed their lives in many ways, both personally and professionally. Our commitment to an exceptional education matches yours. I invite you to learn more about Affordable Excellence and how our programs and certificates (credit and non-credit) can fuel the changes you most want to make in your future, career, and life.
I look forward to the day I can call you a Roger Williams University alumnus.
All my best,
Jamie E. Scurry
Dean of Continuing Studies
